Have you heard of Quick Step Flooring? While it has been popular in Europe for many years, it is only recently becoming popular in the United States. In fact the parent company that manufactures Quick Step Flooring was recently acquired by the American flooring company Mohawk Industries. Laminate flooring is gaining increased appeal in the United States because it is more affordable than real wood, stone, or ceramic flooring and it is easy to install as a do it yourself project. Here is some more information about Quick Step Flooring, just one of the laminate companies you can choose from for your flooring needs:

“Quick Step” refers to the process of putting the planks of flooring together. They use a tongue and groove system they call “Uniclic.” You simply push the tongue into the groove at a slight angle and push firmly until it “clicks.” You can install Quick Step Flooring as well as most other laminates over nearly any surface including a heated floor, but you may need a leveling barrier or a moisture barrier. If you are installing over new cement, you will need the cement to dry and “cure” before you install the floor to avoid moisture being trapped. The planks can be cut using a table, rotary or jig saw.

Quick Step Flooring has 66 different varieties of wood laminate, 8 of stone laminate, and 4 of ceramic laminate. Some have planks that are 2 slats across, while others have 3 slats, and the tile and stone are grouped in a four square pattern.

Laminates are known for being durable, but they can be damaged by scratches or dents. Quick Step does offer putty that will make minor cosmetic repairs. If you install any laminate in an excessively moist area such as a bathroom or sauna, you will have problems-and you may void the warranty. The warranty on Quick Step products is 25 years.

You can find Quick Step products at many flooring dealerships as well as other laminate flooring products. You might want to look at discount flooring stores and outlets to get a better deal.
